CHERYL JACKSON![]() CHERYL JACKSON has felt the power of God working in her life and has always had a deep love of music, which began to blossom when she started her singing and songwriting career more than twenty years ago. Cheryl has had her original songs recorded by such notable gospel artists as The Patriot Quartet, The Sons Family (whose recording of her song “For the Life Of Me” rose to number twenty-nine on The Singing News charts), The Kirklands, and Lulu Roman. In addition, she’s worked with some of Southern Gospel’s best-known producers such as Eddie Crook, Ed Crawford, Scott Godsey and Dan Adkins. Cheryl has released several albums of performances of her own work. Her songs “Be Still” and “Calvary Called Him” were Singing News charted hits for her.
Cheryl’s deep faith, her talents as a writer and performer, and her cheerful and charming personality have made her a favorite of audiences from Tennessee to Texas and beyond. She has adopted Proverbs 17:22 (“A merry heart doeth good like a medicine”) as the motto for her ministry. In fact, her love of laughter led her to create a tribute to the famous comedienne Sarah Cannon, who is better known as her alter ego “Minnie Pearl”. Cheryl recalls seeing the news on TV of Sarah Cannon’s death and hearing the famous Grand Ole Opry performer, in an earlier interview, sum up her life by saying, “I just hope I made somebody smile.” At that moment, Cheryl was moved to write, “Thanks for the Smiles, Sarah,” a song of tribute to Sarah Cannon. This song led to Cheryl’s comedy performances as “Minnie Pearl.” Cheryl’s comedy gained her the nomination of Comedian of the Year for the USAGEM organization in 2011 and 2012, and has opened countless doors for her as she works to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Cheryl Jackson is a singer, songwriter and comedienne, but most important to her, is her ability to take the gifts from God and use them to His glory.
